just wondering if anyone could shed some light. had a vibration in pick up. took to garage to get all joints checked underneath, mechanic said they were fine, vibration persisted so took the prop shaft off, vibration disappeared , mechanic put propshaft back on , vibration worse and seems to stop at about 50mph. mechanic reckons nothing wrong with propshaft. can anyone shed amy light please? as its doing my head in. thanks a lot..... or should i be looking for a new mechanic

I had that,it was a piece of foam(like pipe lagging) in the prop shaft,I paid a lot of money for a new one and then cut the old one up and found the problem which i reckon could have been fixed by squirting some glue in the little drain holes in the shaft..........worth a try???

sounds like prop out of balance ordernary garage would not be able to tell this take the prop to a performance engineer
and get it balanced. sorry dont know of any in the boarders but a lot of rally people up there they bshould be able to help.

How old is the Navara? If 05 or older, beware the timing chain sprocket and/or con rod going

if it is something adrift within the prop try exp foam that should stick anthing that is rolling around inside the prop small 1/4 hole each end and fill it up .or pay out for a fitter to do it

There`s nothing inside to come adrift and filling with expanding foam may stop it contracting and stuff up the transfer box! there are no short cuts ,just take the prop to a specialist and get it checked.

Had the same problem on my L200 -05 it will be a universal joint. You only need minimal movement to get a vibration. I couldn't find the vibration for weeks checked the joints seemed ok but eventually vibration got really bad checked joints again 2 mm movement replaced joint fixed problem. Milner off road £17 for uj..

I'm with appin - suspect UJ issues.

A friend has just had the same symptoms with his Navara - Milner's prices are hard to beat for parts.

a will box your lugs jamross

   Hi Tam keep up the banter have just had to change me undies as peed meself laughin. Navara's had a bad habit of the engines failing. Bottom end means big ends main bearings etc. A big ouch in the wallet when they go.
