Drones to be used by Anti hunt organisations

Had an conversation with a mate a few years back in USA about the Park Rangers in his state using small radio controlled Drones to target illegal fishing and hunting activities, i figured they were too complex & expensive to be used with any great effect and that we would probably not see them over here, however just come of phone with him after reading a note in back of the latest BASC magazine about the very subject, he said they are now widely used, but he told me they are also being used by the anti hunting lobby for their own scheming antics.

i was curious... so i Googled and according to some published articles they have been used here! the group in question is called Shadowview based in UK & Holland...thought it was interesting.

Big Brother & others it seems are watching...

    cheers

Afraid this is old news mate, heard similar months back. I THINK it said that there camera's were a bit naff though so didn't pick up much.

There not exactly the same spec as the military ones ... maybe we should all chip in and buy a military one, I seen they fly with an xbox controller so I could use it. We can just shoot there's out of the sky

    Guys,
local lad to me was heavy into his radio controlled stuff,
now moved onto a quad racopter & fitted a gopro camera on a gimbal below it .... This thing can go out to 1.2km from him & he see what camera sees ....
he has taken some fantastic footage all edited to music & on YouTube & quality is AMAZING!!
i believe it's called FPV ..... First person viewing.
got me thinking bout who else & for what " purposes" these can be used for

Currently used by plod for crowd control and surveillance, were in the sky at the London riots, Royal wedding and allegedly most Premier league football matches, footage is very clear, technology has improved and now they are cheap too, only thing is i think a license may be needed for certain heights/areas?

I suggest that those looking to use drones for surveillance need to read this:

    http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?CATID=1995

The bitter bit (for the antis) is here:

In January 2010 the CAA introduced new regulations that require operators of small unmanned aircraftused for aerial work purposes and those equipped for data acquisition and/or surveillance to obtain permission from the CAA before commencing a flight within a congested area or in proximity to people or property. Details of the permission and how to apply are explained in the links below.

    Surveillance and Data Acquisition

Aircraft operators and pilots should be aware that the collection of images of identifiable individuals (even inadvertently) when using surveillance cameras mounted on a Small Unmanned Surveillance Aircraft may be subject to the Data Protection Act. As this Act contains requirements concerning the collection, storage and use of such images, Small Unmanned Aircraft operators should ensure that they are complying with any such applicable requirments or exemptions.
"Nonsense! They couldn't hit an elephant at this dista.....................".
