    New?
    Previously loved?
    8x?
    10x?
    German, Japanese etc...?

New - I'd go MINOX at that price
Used - Try and find secondhand Swarovski SLCs on eBay, but they are like rocking horse p**

Meopta Meostars, love mine and found nothing to beat them short of top end Zeiss and Swaro.
They were bought as a replacement for a pair of Leica Trinovids, and I find them better and less tiring on the eyes.
The Leica's were 8x32 and the Meopta's are 10x32, even so they are still better in low light and show more detail than the Leica's ever did.

Well i managed to pick up a second hand pair of swaro 7x42slc for 500 on this site not too long ago. And for the money im well chuffed. Better than taking the full whack of buying new.
Always think before you pull that trigger.

I bought Leica 10x42 Trinovid used for <600 three years ago; fantastic glass, armoured green. Having had the joy of lifting a pair of Swaro 10x42 EL's I can say the Swaros are lighter but would have needed another 700 to buy a pair.
