    8 pointer Red Stag

Finally a week of leave and the chance to get out on a week day. Dropped this 8 pointer monster this morning. The rut is well and truly under way. Dressed out hanging minus head and lower legs he weighed 271lbs (123kg) (19 stone)

    Regards

Just started the head clean up/mounting process, is it worth buying a red deer jig from Bush wear or will it be just as easy to run a standard saw through it?

Will continue to update on the blog.

    Regards

    Carl.

I find that if you secure it well enough in something like a workmate you can achieve a very good even cut with just a wood saw, I prepare about half a dozen stags heads each year and it works fine for me!
Opinions are like arseholes....... we all have them, and most of them stink

Will try that as i don't want to shell out for jig.Had a look at Jelen Deer services on YouTube, they have 3 videos from start to finish, looking to follow that setup.
