Thread: Legalities of shooting cattle ?

  1. #1

    Legalities of shooting cattle ?

How would I stand if I had to shoot a beast ?
Basically a neighbour has had some cattle escape. Some have turned up in our wood, he has implied they might have to shoot one or all.
Hopefully it won't come to that, but the chances of catching them look a bit slim.

I have AOLQ, would that cover it if it came down to it ?

NO! dont even think about it-let him sort it out.

Not under AOLQ, you need something more specific, you would also need to have him out it in writing that you had permission to do it otherwise you know who will get a bill for having shot his 'prize heffer' funny out it's never the infertile tb infected ones that get out....... Tread carefully.
Opinions are like arseholes....... we all have them, and most of them stink

Been involved in such a deed twice.
Both times the police were present and on both occasions it was done for public safety reasons.Other than that I would be very wary as the other chaps have said.

Call your firearms department they will assist you, just recently I was called out to shoot a whale of all creatures!!!! One phone call to the department and it was sorted, they classed it as a secondary target and animal welfare.
