Different Mod Really Make A Difference

I have two SAK moderators both 22LR/17HMR, same model etc. One I brought with my 17HMR the other came with a recent 22 purchase.

I know my HMR is zero'd (did it at the range last month) took it shooting last night and couldn't hit any rabbits at 50yds kept missing and I know my shooting isn't that bad.

When I got home it turned out I'd used the other SAK moderator, not the one I'd zero'd it with. Would this really make that much difference to my POI?

I used to have 3 of them, swapped then about without any problems, all held zero on any of the 3 rifles.
So I don't really understand how it could be your problem, unless one is brand new and not used and the other
is full of crap to the point it is significantly heavier.
(I am assuming they are both the same, not and old style and new style one)

    Neil.

Just use the one mod on both rifles. once it burns out from the hmr then swap to the other mod and check zero. thats how i use to do it before i sold them off.

Some people say to keep mods dirty as it helps with the noise, I clean once a month before going to range. i check zeros every month so clean the day before.

I took my PH .22lr mod apart to clean it. Since then, I cannot get the baffles lined up' It must have been apart 15-20 times now. It wasn't even dirty when I stripped it, despite the useage. I can group okay without it and pants with it. The bullets must be striking the baffles on the way out by the tiniest of fractions. Is your mod okay?

Have you got the PH "baffle alignment tool"?

It is a piece of 1/4" rod that you string the baffles and springs on before inserting them into the tube.

Are you seeing lead shavings or signs of bullet contacting the baffles (lead smears etc)?
