    annealing brass

    Evening all, who on here anneals their cases, what method is the best, how often should you anneal?

    I anneal my 6br and 6.5x284 cases after every five reloads - I use a homemade machine.

    I anneal my brass after every fourth firing. I get Spud to do it. Regards JCS

    Probably the best method.

    Cases are annealed if and when they require it.

    lack of obturation, not sealing
    sooty shoulders, sooty case wall
    poor neck tension as the brass is hard (work hardened)

    The standard SD toys got chucked out of the pram. But 50% of the thread will actuly help!

    I must say it has lead me to making a induction loop to anneal my de rimmed 22lr cases prior to swaging.
    But getting any time to swage is just not on the cards!
    Shame as that was one part of the reloading process, I really enjoyed a LOT!

    Give annealing a try. It can be as simple as you make it. Like all things in reloading!
