    change to 6.5 x 47

    Hi All
I am considering selling both my tikka t3 stainless varmints (223 and 243) and consolidating to a single 6.5 x 47..... cant seem to make up my mind.
Help and suggestions would be warmly welcomed..... rifle will be used mainly for fox and deer but with the occasional foray into medium range targets.

    regards

Sounds a good plan to me. If I didn't have 14 years invested in 260 Rems and was starting afresh today, I would probably go with 6.5 x 47 Lapua.
    Good luck.

The 47l will be better at deer and targets, my favourite calibre. Not the best for foxing but manageable, im using mine at the moment until my replacement .243 arrives as my foxer. Bullets are a bit heavy imho for a foxing rifle, prefer sub 70gn myself

have to agree a mate of mine has one,we have done a lot of testing to get it to be "an alround calibre" basically you cant.its deadly accurate 0.9 MOA at 500 yards using 100gr Nosler but it will never be a good night time foxing rifle the bullet is too heavy and its not being pushed fast enough to be a point and shoot calibre (a bit like a 6BR using heavies)

I would keep the 223 for foxing and rebarrel the 243 to 6.5x47.
I prefer smaller calibres like the 204 and 223 with 40 and 50 grain bullets for foxing.
