    Deer stalking in Devon

Last night I stayed in Devon with some friends who have just moved into a stunning manor house with 27 acres of mixed new and old woodland. Looks like they have some roe in residence.

Driving to work in Taunton this am I drove through Credititon up to Tiverton, road goes through some wonderfull ground, didn't see any deer. Does anybody hail from that area and are there many Roe about?

If so you are lucky to have such a wonderfull place to shoot.

    Yes

    Yes, and red.

Oh yes! (In best Churchill nodding dog accent).

Shoot, walk, study wildlife and just breath it all in. If you then went from Tiverton to Taunton via the A361/M5 you missed some of the best countryside - Tiverton/Bampton/Wiveliscombe/Taunton is a much more picturesque route.

And fallow just south of Crediton.
The A361/M5 route, especially around Rackenford you see large herds of reds on occasion.
I wish i had friends who lived in a Manor House!
    Cheers

Always loved seeing the reds in that field on the left of the A361 going way from Tiverton near Rackenford. The nicest way to get to Taunton from North Devon is through Exford, Wheddon Cross, and then the B3224 down to Bishops Lydiard and south to Taunton. There are reds and roe everywhere and there are fallow near Elworthy.
