.243 AI 1.12 twist bullet choice

    Hi All,

Hope you all had a good Christmas, I am in the process of having my vssf .22-250 rebarreled into a .243 Ackley with a 1:12 twist 25" shillen sendero profile, I'm looking for advise on bullets, I used to shoot and still am shooting norma 75 grain vmax until I sell my sps varmint. I am looking for something with a similar performance but that would be better suited for the occasional deer, as the v-max isn't. The Gun isn't going to be a main gun for deer. It will be mainly used for foxing out 300 yards possibly a bit more, day time varminting out to 600 yards and very occasionally deer if one presents itself whilst out for other quarry. I would like something that shoots flat enough to 300 yards for foxing am happy to dial in for daytime vermin and steels, the box says that normas 75 grain v max do approx. 3300 fps and has a bc of .330 which is a 6" drop @ 300 yards with a 200 yard zero .I was thinking of using Hornady 85 grain interbonds, as they should work better for deer and buck the wind better forgot to mention the wind is usually a bit more where I intend to mainly use it, as they are big open fields. Is there any other bullets that will work well to what I have said above.

    Many Thanks Matt

One comment, 1:12 twist seems a bit slow to me. My 243 AI had a 1:10 twist and ideally I would have liked a faster twist.

I'm currently shooting a 1:12 twist Krieger barrel on a standard .243 which shoots 80gr bullets just fine. Personally I've tried Bergers on fox only, won't be using them again.. and 80 gr Nosler BT's which work well on both Fox and Deer.
