Norma 6.5x55 Diamond Line Fält...has any one used them?

    130 grain coated hollow points...

One of my local RFDs has these in stock, just wondered if anyone had used them before on deer/fox and how have you found them?

    Regards

    Hi Jim,

This is target ammunition with a special coating to reduce barrel wear, I would not recommend them for fox or deer!

Thats what i was thinking....couldn't find any referance anywhere to stalking/pest control use with them, but....

...the guy in the shop said he had a customer who used them for long range goat shooting somewhere....and that they should be fine for deer?!? maybe i misheard him

Think i'll leave them, cheers for the response.

this is from the norma cat:

diamond line cartridges are loaded with specially chosen bullets that have a molybdenum disulphide coating and wax finish
ie match bullets for reduced wear and in creased accuracy

they are however quite fast for the 6.5 2986ft/sec muzzle velocity

i am trying out there 140 gr twin core bullets this week are the hinds in scotland

so far they have accounted for 5 hinds and a calf in 2 days

the bullets seem to be going through the T3 very well

last shot today 225 yrds in the neck

the only prob with these rounds are they are special order from europe
    through your friendly RFD

    cheers

    Hi Steve

Are you referring to the RWS Doppelkern (DK) load?

I would be interested to try these, but as you say, special order minimum 200rnds, which is rather a lot should the rifle not like them!

Does your RFD happen to have any left, and if so, where is he?

    hi dalua

i run a gun shop in aberdeenshire up in snowy scotland
and i took the rounds in for my own rifle initally have sold some
but we still have a case left (200)

when we were up at the hinds in glen muick in december they accounted for 11 of the 26 animals shot that week

we did have 3 rifles out per day
was quite impresed with the knock downs we had even at range

    where are you based dalua

    cheers

    Hi Steve

I've currently got some of the 127gr cone point stuff (of which Ruag happened to have some, so not special order). Have yet to try them on the hill

Interestingly, the 'book' mv of these is 2900fps from a 25.5" barrel. From my 21"-ish Finnlight, I get 2550fps on the chrono.

As long as the drop in velocity is proportionate or less, the 140gr should still be lawfully usable in Scotland.

I live in Manchester. I wonder how much it would cost, if you were willing to arrange, to send a packet of these by appropriate courier to my local RFD?
