    1 - 4 - 1 variation in 3 days!!

    I submitted my 1-4-1 variation late afternoon on 30-Dec, got a phone call at lunchtime today saying it's ready to collect. Really can't argue with that turn around at this time of year. I'm over the moon as I was told at least 10 days, so I can shopping tomorrow and pick up my replacement rifle

    Excellent service from West Midlands, I put my 1 -4-1 into Police Scotland the week before xmas holidays, still waiting.

    It's Staffs Police, but they've recently merged Staffs and West Mercia

    3 DAYS..! I doubt mine even gets looked at in 3 Days, More like 3 weeks minimum..! My force has just issued new simplified forms for variations, I bet it doesn't speed up the process though, bit less to fill out though time after time so shouldn't moan too much.

    My mistake, everything goes through Staffs so didn't pay that much notice as it didn't affect me

    .....and me, annoying isn't it
    By three methods we may learn wisdom:
    First, by reflection, which is noblest;
    Second, by imitation, which is easiest;
    and third by experience, which is the bitterest

    And it will only get worse. Fifty million to be saved this year and a hundred million over the next two years, staff cut to the bone and more to come. You'll soon be looking at months to get a variation back as renewals will always take precedence due to the expiry deadline..

    With that amount of cutting back to be done I think a major rethink on how Police Scotland administer SGC and FAC is required. I'm sure that 1-4-1 variations could be turned round much quicker particularly if it is the same cal and only the serial numbers are changing.

    As Blitzking says, it will only get worse when further cuts are made to Police Scotland's budget.
