    Apart from the normal issue with airline;

    I have experience of turning up in Vancouver, British Columbia. You clear immigration and collect your normal baggage. Go to Customs and tell them you have a rifle (airline details etc. It will be delivered to them anyway)
    They check your FAC, you pay your $25 for a temporary permit, they give you your rifle and your on your way.

    The temporary permit allows you to purchase ammunition and rifles. No need for a slot on your FAC but you have to take the rifle out of Canada. Down to you how you are going to get it back without a slot and airline handling requirements

    Firstly no moderators allowed. mags up to 5 rounds for CF. etc. Have a look on Canadian Firearms Program - Royal Canadian Mounted Police Hope that helps.
