    .30 Cal Variation

Ive got a variation for .30 and seen a WSM
Would that variation cover the .300? I know they are the same calibre but it is up there...

    can only ask
L&B forced me to choose a cartridge derivation rather than a calibre
wasn't sure at the time if I wanted a 30-06, 300WM or something else.....they didn't help "come back when you decide"!

L&B....I had to fight to get a .308 slot to accept a 7.62x51 stamped barrel...

You should be OK but depends in your departments interpretation .30 cal is not a chambering so anything with this diameter should be fair game (I have .308 & 30.06 both listed as .30 cal - my .300WM however is down as .300). If the dealer selling is not comfortable with this you'll have no choice but to clarify with your department, so might not be a bad idea to pick up the phone and ask.

It would be a private sale

Give firearms admin a call. Best not to rub them up the wrong way.

Best check with your firearms licensing. I wanted a .22 C/F and couldn't make my mind up between .223 and 22-250 but they made me chose and wouldn't just give me a blanket .22 C/F slot!!

BK, will your RFD sell you a 300 WSM on a .30 Cal authority?
If he will then go for it, if the police dont agree with it they will soon be in contact with you when the details arrive on their system.
I bought my 300WSM years back on a .300 cal authority, i also had 6.5mm Cal. and 7mm Cal. as well as buying a 243 on a 6mm authority, that was about 10 years ago, i dont think my licensing office would be so generous now.
