    7mm-08 Reloading

    I'm rebarreling a Sako 85 S .243 in 7mm-08AI and planning to use upto 150gr Nosler BTs.

The max COAL for the magazine is 2.9", maybe just over.

Can this length of bullet be seated to the lands whilst still being able to fit in the mag and feed reliably? Would I need to have the chamber throated in a particular way to get bullets seated to the lands whilst still being able to feed from the mag?

If you are really concerned about 'seating to the lands' with a specific bullet you should provide a dummy round to the gunsmith and have him cut the throat independent of the chamber. The ultimate downside is that the bullet won't prove itself to be accurate in your rifle. Or the supply will be interrupted and you will be force to substitute another bullet style. Lastly, additional cost of the build if the gunsmith doesn't have a throatless chamber reamer.~Muir
