    Hornady v-max, what powder?

Hi All, does anyone know what powder hornady use in there v-max ammunition? or is it a secret recipe, been using there 40 grain v-max factory in my .223 tikka with oustanding accuracy and not sure wether to try and work a load which is as good or bite the bullet cost and use factory ammo, thanks Dean

Is this the 'superformance' vmax loading ? If so, there's ya answer. Superformance powder.

To be honest, if you are happy with factory ammo, then just get a box of bullets, a suitable powder, cfe223, h335 etc and load some up, it's not going to be hard to match factory loads

don't forget, primers can make a difference too, so even if you do use the same powder, you'll only 'match' the factory loading with the same primers too.

Try Viht N133 as a start point. Works a treat for me with a whole range of loads in .223

For a 40grn V Max any of the following are good,
    H322
    N130
    Benchmark.

If it was down to only one powder for most .223 bullet weights it would have to be H322.
I used for all the bullet weights I have tried from 40grn to 69grn and it never let me down.
