    Heym SR21.

Can any of you Heym SR 21 owners clarify the following statement please. "The SR 21 is a switch barrel rifle, ie can be done without reference to a gunsmith". It will help sort out an argument. Thanks in advance.

part of the write up ( Another interesting point to consider about this rifle is the ease of calibre change. With one allen key you can remove the receiver and barrel and swap it out. In the case of a .243 to .308 or .22-250 changeover the same magazine can be used.) so yup it can be.
i think peter carr tv , the shooting show did a bit on this rifle showing how it can be done by byron pace

    Hi
Having owned a number of Heym rifles and currently own a .270 SR20 and a .308 SR21 I can confirm that they are not switch barrel modular rifles like the Sauer 202 and Mauser M03 etc the barrels are traditionally fitted, chambered and head spaced etc.
The Heym SR21 would not be a difficult job for a competent Gun Smith to re barrel and as the action is one size/length you could convert from say .243 to .30-06 fairly easily with a magazine change and reproof etc
The ORDNANCE QF 18 pounder Field Gun......I wonder if they will let me have one of these on an open ticket

The Heym sr21 and SR30 rifles are switch barrel, but the whole receiver and barrel comes of, and it will only work with the same bolt family i.e. magnum and non magnum.

So, in fact, they aren't really any different most other makes? As far as I understand, virtually all makes of rifle allow you to lift the barrel+receiver out of the stock and swap for another barrel+receiver with the same action length.

Certainly my SR21 really seems no different to a Sako/Tikka/what have you.
