How do Roe know how to stand in safe places

Hands up who ever has given Roe Deer access to the safety parts of best practice guides and DSC1 training manuals. They have obviously been reading them.

This is morning I was out trying to catch up with a couple of old does. I caught up them. Easy shot 20 yards or so, but with a road behind. Stay very quite - she trots away only to stp precisely in line with some houses. She moves again and offers me a clear shot with just fresh air behind. Didn't bother taking rifle off the shoulder. 5 mins later so the other one - yes just with open trees behind, but the couple of bucks she was with had good solid backdrops.

I must take a camera instead - lovely morning to be out, just a hint of spring and birds singing beautifully.

It's not them that are stood in the wrong place.... it's you

They must give lessons to the fallow as well, saw the same pricket twice this morning in different areas of the wood - both times with nothing but blue sky behind it

Yup.. Had that on Saturday morning. The does I wanted either stood one infront of another, or rear on. Eventually I shot a yearling as this was the only shot available and will be nice and tender.

Not only have they read the safety parts, but they have an uncanny awareness of season dates...
