Just a simple neck down of 308 brass to 25 caliber. About the same performance as the 257 Roberts. 117's at around 2900-3000 fps. No real advantage to it other than reforming from common brass.~Muir

Yes, a .308 necked down to .257. As you might expect, between a .257 Roberts and a .25-06.
I have only seen one, a custom full stocked short action Win Model 70.
Also saw a .270-08 once that was a nice light rifle, built on a Rem M700.

I have my own variation on the theme- basically the 243 Ackley Improved, necked up to 25 calibre and throated to best suit 85 grain Nosler BTs. 25-06 performance in a shorter action with 10 or 12 grains less powder.
As you'll gather from my user name, I kind of like a wildcat!

It's on a 595 now, Jamie. Feeds faultlessly.
It was originally on a Sako 75 and struggled due to the bottom lug fouling on the 40 degree shoulder of the top cartridge in the magazine as the bolt was pulled back.
