Some 12 members of the North-Cotswolds Deer Management Group attended a 1-day D.I. Course last Thursday to learn to spot the signs of deer activity and impact on a woodland.
The location of the course was in South-Glos, a little outside our usual area, but well worth the extra travel time as the location was on a beautiful estate with some superb countryside (500 Acres+).
The first part of the day was classroom work with a presentation and lively debate. The second part of the day was a walk-about under the expert guidance of the DI Deer Liaison Officer Graham Riminton and a very knowledge gentleman named Patrick.
The level of knowledge/experience under the delegates ranged from absolute novice to very experienced professional deer manager - nevertheless we all benefited from the course and everybody learned something new, which we can now apply to our own stalking grounds.
Thank you to the D.I. form making the course available to our members!
