    like a dog with 2 d#'ks

opened todays post after a few days delay to find my FAC.
extatic is the word, now looking for a nice .243
either save up and go for a sako 85 stainless synthetic. or browning x bolt.

    How exciting!

Have you handled both of them?

I've never handled a Sako 85, but my four rifles are all Sakos of one kind or another. I didn't fancy the feel of X-bolt much in comparison.

I'm sure you've not overlooked the need for a good telescope-sight and mounts.

Might a second-hand rifle from a relaible source be an option?

    Hi Gelert,

    Sako 85 s/s for me.

I've had mine since August and I find it faultless. Before I bought, I handled the Browning X, Remington, Tikka T3, etc and found that the build quality on the 85 to be in a different class.

I topped mine off with an S and B 8x56 Hungarian (30mm tube) and optilock mounts.

Just a damn good, straight forwards, no nonsense, practical set up.

    Good shooting

As advised - check out the possibility of a good second hand rifle from a trusted member.

I was in the same position this time last year. I bought a very nice Sako A2 circa 1982 rebarrelled with a Border Archer 1 : 10 in .243 - lovely.

Topped it off with Optilock mounts and 30mm rings and vvgc just serviced Docter Optic 3-12x56 scope from another trusted member on here. Add the DM80 sound moderator.

All for less than the price of a new Sako 85 I should think !!!

I couldn't be happier, it all just feels right and works together very well.

    Cheers + ATVB
