£3000 to spend on a new rifle in .308 win. Preferences are heavy barrel and synthetic as it will be a working tool. Suggestions welcome.

Rowners.

Sportsman gun centre. Steyr SSG 69 choice of scope and mod. Mines in .243 i'm no sniper i know that, but it will group 1/4 moa at 125 yrds with factory ammo.

is the 85 hunter not both standard weight barrel and wooden stock? Also the A.I. AT is a little on the tactical side for clients to be using.

Sako 75 (donor) 6-700
custom tube (high end) 700-1000
mcmillan stock (or equal) 600+
moderator (your choice) 250-300
bedding and duracoat/blasting 350-500
and some change maybe, depending on who does the work.
you could go remmy but then have to buy decent bottom metal and a trigger, sako is just fine if your happy with 5 shot mag.

have the stock style, barrel weight/twist exactly as you want it

£3k is a bit shy of a full custom to a good spec, from a reputable builder.
