    defender td5 wheels and tyres

looking to replace my steel wheels with something a little smarter on my 2003 td5 defender ... any body got anything ?

I have a set of Boosts with Kumho KL71's in 265 which have done 2,000miles but i may regret selling them... Ebay always has dozens of sets, some new take offs. The 235 Continentals the come with are very good in the mud.

PS.. If your Defender is a commercial without the "county pack" it will not have antiroll bars and will not like wider tyres. In fact it will handle like a duvet with a spacehopper on each corner!

It will have no roll bars unless it is a County pack or an XS spec'. It will look better but it will handle worse..

If you are willing to sacrifice a tiny bit and keep it looking smart for little money i would advise on genuine "Freestyle" alloys and a 235-85X16" tyre. Plenty for sale and half the price of the "Boost" rims.
Do a search on here.... Www.defender2.net

Good advice there from RD, but to throw it out there I recon defenders look proper on steel's "fit for purpose" how about heavy duty steel wheels (130 type)?

    now that looks proper!

I love the Wolf h/d rims and i ran them with 265's for a wee while but i kept getting a guilty concience about my wheels in the garage getting dusty so i sold the Wolfs and never missed them. They look great on classic Defenders but look a wee bit odd on a XS??
    Nice either way.
