Thread: Name that bone (animal ID)

  1. #1

Question Name that bone (animal ID)

I was walking my dog and found this bone, well my springer did. Anybody got any suggestions as to what animal it might be from? I have my suspicions, but want to see what others think.

I sincerely hope i`m wrong but could it possibly be a dog?

Often see white digit hair on feet and likely well bleached by weather. IMO Wrong shape leg (and nails) for a dog. Completely wrong shape for badger. Nails nothing like those of a cat. All other native carnivores will have much shorter legs. Not many other options but fox.

Hadn't thought of that, assumed leg was bigger in scale. But could easily be a rabbit or hare depending on size. Nails very suggestive of that.
