I might invite critism by saying this, but to me it seems a fine example of how excellence in material and execution do not preclude a product of almost breathtaking vulgarity.

No criticism from me! Although the guy is incredibly talented artistically, aesthetically that is hideous!

I've been thinking about this quite hard:
if I were not permitted to make financial gain from the arrangement (i.e. I couldn't sell the hideous parody of all that is lovely in gunmaking), then I wouldn't swap any of my current rifles for that one.

I love rifles, I love classic rifles, and I love to build them...but, IMVHO, this is overdone, it's become too much of a piece of 'show'. in fact, it probably was just built as a collectors show piece as surely nobody would bring this into the field, and certainly not be expecting to be taken seriously.

it seems more like it's a glorified engraver at work than a rifle builder, as it's just a bog standard magnum mauser, stock and action, etc.

very fancy work and clearly and amazingly skilled artisan, but way over the top for me.

in my book you cannot beat a good old sporterized mauser 98. with a custom walnut stock, ebony, rust bluing, silvers pad and a hand rubbed oil finish. nothing more is needed to create classic functional beauty.

Same here, you just worded it better (as in politely) than I would have done

A little more attention to detail in the scope rings & mounts would have been nice ....................

    Neat rifle there

The rifle propably cost just as much as doing an elephant hunt? But still a very nice job done
