    Teeth or no teeth

I shot a nice red stag in march this year, ive cleaned/boiled and bleached it, i bought a nice plaque for it at the kelso fair, now im just stuck on how i want it cut, i want a long cut with th nose left on but dont know weather to leave the teeth or cut them off.
what are your preferences, pics of your own would be great
    cheers rob

I think the roe heads look good whole but with something as large as a stag I think it would be better cut. When my brother shot one we basically capped it like in the photo.

Think it has the tendency to look a bit like something that could have been scooped off a desert floor but depends how much wall space you want to fill. Also if the Mrs will let you put the whole thing up! Would try it first whole though and see what you think. You can't stick the bones back on once you've cut it.

The plaque i bought is a long one so it will have to be a long cut if any

I normally go for a long nose cut or somewhere between that and a cap. Certainly easier for boiling, and less weight on the wall......... See my avatar for what I do..
Opinions are like arseholes....... we all have them, and most of them stink

If you want a long nose cut take a line through the ear and just above the first pre molar, leaving the roof of the mouth, easier to do than it is to explain probably best if you know someone who can show you.

Long nose cut removing the teeth leaving more of the nose on than the above picture.

Over the years I have mounted them in different ways .
    Pictures to follow showing styles.
The centre one above the mantelpiece is my best ever Red and was a wild Wicklow, Eire, stag which made a Silver medal.
The scull is complete with the teeth.
The two in the alcoves were cull park stags with non symmetrical formation and the sculls are cut.
