    308 - The Only Calibre

Have you seen the Shooting Times this week?
Two commentators have 'come out' and admited the 308 is the calibre to use.
Its so comprehensive it can be used on anything from fox to Red's and Boar with the right bullet.
Lets not hear anymore of posey calibres that can only do one job that you can rarely find bullets for, have very flat trajectories that save the shooter thinking about range and bullet placement.
    Lets get real!!!

There are certainly minimum cartridges but the ideal cartridge is the most powerful (bullet diameter, bullet weight, and velocity) one you can shoot accurately.

Just like .270, .30-06 or any other calibre you choose with the right kickback

The question would appear to be Is the .308 big enough ?

If you can handle a 375 H&H the answer is no.

Interesting post for me as I have just had .270, 30.06 and .308 added to my ticket. Is the OP correct, should I blank the rest and go for a .308 ?

Not always. Meat damage and pelt condition can also drive cartridge selection. There are no absolutes; to think or say there is absolute folly. Absolutes are only absolute within a certain set of parameters...unfortunately, the real world tends to not follow those parameters just because a person sets them...

I think the key words here are "shoot accurately" Don't matter what you've got, if you can't shoot, you won't hit much.....
