    Edinburgh airport program

    Interesting program last night.
They have a rolling cull of birds to try to prevent aircraft/bird strikes.
It showed on of the staff shooting seagulls, pretty high ones too, the guy was a good shot as you would expect
He said that he had shot over 1,000 gulls last year.
Thre were two buzzards sitting on the perimeter fence that he tried to scare off but they wouldn't budge..next step the shotgun but that wasn't shown. Needs must.
Bet they have a few complaints incoming.

I thought that it would generate a few negative comments, I thought the programme was pretty interesting myself.

Interesting enough programme, but the guy was a complete nugget and did nothing to help the cause of shooters or shooting! I spend most days on my back foot trying to defend shooting and this guy didn't help us one little bit.
Most of the negativity that I've heard, has been from shoters!

"Bet they have a few complaints incoming". Not half as many as they would if a blooming great buzzard went into the intake of a jet on rotation! I stripped a JT9D (Boeing 747 engine) that had a sever bird strike. The blades had snapped off and due to the high rpm had ripped clean through the outside case of the engine. Needless to say,,,,it stopped working shortly afterwards.

I completely agree re the bird culling, also agree that the guy doing it was a complete muppet.

I don't recall them shooting to control birds at Gatwick ................................... perhaps the Scots need to learn something from the Southerners .
