    Trail cams

Could any one advise me on trail cams.
i have never used or needed them before but I find myself needing some, my question is, having to buy a few of these I cannot afford to buy the more expensive well known makes , so I was wondering are the cheaper ones an option , has any of you got or used the cheaper end of the market trail cams and if so are they any good/reliable.
any info would be gratefully received.
    many thanks,
    Scott.

I personally wouldnt like to leave a 200 plus camera outside
(unless I was on a BBC wildlife budget)
the cheaper one give results and usually start at 79 ( maplins)

you get what you pay for though (sometimes)
I like the little acorn 5210A
the stills are good 12 MP, video not so good.

but they show you what you want to see.
they can have problems with egress of water
the on off switch is delicate no heavy thumbsClick image for larger version.

Try John Robson at yorkshire roe stalking seems to get a good quality trail cam at the right price with bulk orders and they are the new spec I think. Less than 100 quid each

That still photograph from the acorn is better quality than the bresser photos I get - to the extent I'll look at the acorn instead of the bresser if they're similar prices.

The Acorn camera is available from Aldi(do you have Aldi in the UK ?) it is branded as the Maginon. Costs €99 so a reasonable saving. Quality as has been said is good.Click image for larger version.

I have a Maginon and appears to be very satisfactory, it was a Aldi buy I think 80. 3 yr warranty and easy to use. See comments on extensive thread on Aldi/Lidl cams on this site.
