    Stalking with lwcdart

Full story in the Articles section, but many thanks to Lee (lwcdart) from the site for a great morning's stalking:

p.s. although some who have seen me shoot might say otherwise, the strap is not a 'hobble' to make stalking easier, it is for carrying the doe back to the car

    Hi willie

nice carrying strap. I use a similar thing sometimes but a little less posh, its para cord and a bit of old seatbelt. I find that one loop either end works well,, one round both back legs above the elbow and one round the head. If i put it round the head then both front legs flop away from you and i find this keeps you cleaner on a gralloched deer.

Interesting thought - since I got my leather strap made I've 'acquired' one made of plaited paracord as well, but without the seatbelt. With the design I've got you can't really put the loop around the head, but your suggestion sounds like a good improvement as I do find I often end up with a bit of a mess on the trousers/jacket. I'd also thought about carrying a bin liner to wrap around the carcase but by then you might as well stick it in a roe sack

i carry my strap in my roe sack so if i get two i can just about carry them, im a chiropracters dream. ive also thought of the bin bag idea and have used a bergen liner (couple of quid army surplus).
cut hole about 1/3 way up. 1st put loops round front of deer (head or hooves) then put deer in bag, feed harness through hole and attach to back legs. finally with the string and toggle on the liner close the bag securely.
    nice and neat.
