    Veiws on this shot

found this video on FB Deer Stalking UK, anybody got an opinion on the shot? I have mine, but I'd like to hear other peoples opinion.

One of those where, unless you were there and in the exact position of the shooter, there is no way to know whether there was a risk or not. Only thing I'd really object to is the apalling sound track.

Trial by UTube gets ugly quickly.

    Agreed with as above.

IF the camera angle was exactly the same as the view thru the scope I'd probably have a couple of issue with the shot , but having not been there who can say whether it was safe or not?

also, the soundtrack is as mungo stated truly diabolical!

I take it there not DMQ . There other does behind the one he dropped . Thats one thing you learn from the courses

The music sounds as if it's from an 80s porn shoot. . . Not that I know of course, I'm just assuming that's what it would sound like. . .

Basic question on level 1 , is that deer safe to shoot yes or no , correct answer is no , to make make the shot safe with camera angle he would have had to be quite away of the camera man , which we don't know with any certainty , my niggle is that newcomers think that that's an exeptable shot to take , just my thoughts on it , regards arron.

Impossible to say without seeing the sight picture through the scope.

IMHO Not acceptable. There is another deer behind the one they shot. Possibility of a bullet being deflected and hitting the one behind.

The way the deer is looking, the rifle is way left of camera so I'd err on the side of ok but as above- it's impossible to say without being there.

As as for the comments about them being DMQ- it reminds me of the attitude of IAM motorcyclists. Just because you've ticked the right box in a test or said the right thing to an instructor/witness has no bearing on how you later behave in the field (or on the road)!

Things do often look different on the ground and through the scope, but I don't like the presence of the deer behind, or the gently sloping ground behind that, which, prima facie, I wouldn't consider a safe backstop.

Putting clips like that on YouTube is in itself quite a silly thing to do - but it does at least give something to sharpen our collective teeth on, I suppose.
