    Subsonic .243

As most of my foxing this time of year is clearing out cubs at close range I decided to work up a subsonic .243 load as my normal loads cut cubs in half and make a lot of unneeded noise and disturbance.these .243subs are easyer than taking both the .22 and .243 around with me.as you can see they are really accurate at 50meters and they have about the same noise as a silenced .22lr I did try them after at 100m just out of interest and they have the same trajectory as my .22lr. I used 60gr Sierra hp over 10.5gr of imr4895. Click image for larger version.

Cool! I normally spend May doing the same but havent had one litter yet

Did you need to adjust your scope much?

    Top plan.
For someone who doesn't home load and has just ordered a 243, is there a factory equivalent?

It was shooting less that 1cm low and to the left at 50m so pretty much smack on , I've cleared out 2 litters so far. They certainly brought a smile to my face

Ah..... Where did you get that load? The only 4895 that can be safely reduced it H4895, and then only to 66% of maximum listed charge. ~Muir

Well just wondering it says for a 70 grn bullet 40 max load in the 26 edition hogdons reloading manual, does this mean you could reduce maybe to30 maybe 32grn without a problem? I am very cautious

Hi , where did you here that from (not being funny - if I'm doing something wrong I would like to know) to be honest from the research I did imr4895 really is quite a common choice for reloading subs. It is most commonly used in .308 win (8.5 grains if I remember correctly) and is often used in .243 (up to about 14 grains). I have put a fair few through my rifle now with no problems
