    Bullet recommendations for 25/06

Bullet recommendations for 25/06 I have worked up loads in 3 different bullet weights. being 87 100 sierra and 117 hornady. Only To find the power I have used is not always available, I have bought some reloaded Swiss That I have been told is easy to get hold of. I don't want to spend to much time developing loads i do not need.

What one bullet weight and type would be considered good for stalking?

been using sierra gameking 100 grain for about 4 years work well on sikka and fallow, was using h4350. how did you get on with the hornady 117 grain

55g R22, CCI Mag & 100g Barnes TSX, gives 3102fps and works nicely on deer

55.5g R22, Federal primers, Federal cases & Barnes TSX 100g for 3190 fps out of a 22" barrel on a Blaser R93. Been using these for 7 years on mainly Sika but also reds, roe, fallow and munties. They do the job!

With the 100gn Sierra bullet IMR 4350 & H4350 both work well. I use 53gns of either achieving MV3257fps with IMR4350 & a 22" barrel, but you need to work up to what's appropriate. With the 110 to 117gn bullets IMR4831 may work very well, it certainly does for me again 53gns with the 110gn Nosler AB MV 3146fps.
All the stopping power you need for anything in this country. ATB

I would try the 110 gr Nosler Accubond over 50.5 grains of IMR-4831, RL-19, N-165 or N-160. Start at 48.0 gr.

The attached is an interesting and informed opinion of the performance of various bullets. Check out the 'Handloading' section.

I've found Nosler 100 gr Ballistic tip over 54gr RL19 COAL 3.15 approx 3124 fps work and group extremely well. (CCI large rifle primer and Federal brass)

Dont know about everyone else but I've found the .25-06 to be a trickey little cartridge to tune just right!

My experience exactly....I have had 2 rifles in 25-06 and both of them were finicky about the powder used. With some powders they shot all over the place and with others just ½ inch groups. I now have a Sauer 202 which likes N-160 very much but hates N-165 and RL-19 !! Still have to try out RL-22.
