Ash, get yourself a proper collet die puller, no bashing stuff around, no powder mess , no damaged rounds, only around 20.00.

+1 for finnbear's comments. I have the hammer type and the collet type and haven't used the hammer type for years!!

Ok....I'm interested because my hammer has just shattered.
Does this gadget fit into the seating die or direct to the press or what?

    Cheers

The collet bullet puller is in effect just a die body (goes in the press) & you have a calibre specific collet inside, you load your cartridge into the shell holder just like you would for seating a bullet, raise the arm enter the bullet into the collet, turn down the collet, adjust to suit ,(lock/grip), clamp bullet, lower arm of press, bullet stays in collet, presto!no marks on bullets either! 8)

Most of the modern reloading stuff is all common thread, my collet puller is sold under the Hornady label & fits my Lee press.

I have used an RCBS puller and suitable collets for years. Never had a problem.
This is the same as mine.
