Thread: Notify police of ammo purchase or acquire.

Notify police of ammo purchase or acquire.

So I have my renewed certificate and in the new one, in the notes, it says I must notify of the purchase or acquisition of ammo and that failure to do so is an offence.
It refers to the Act but as far as I know there isn't anything in the Act that covers this.

A step toward totalitarianism, or an error?

I'm thinking error but I might just comply with the note when I load up my next batch for the range.
.223 Monday, .308 Tuesday and I might buy some .22lr on Wed.
    Three e-mails should cover it.

Seems some numpty civil servant decided to slightly amend the licensing act/law/form but without due consideration as to the consequences of such an amendment.
Will we ever find out who did this - I doubt it!
however this might have a silver lining.
For all those that have small quantities allowed on their cert - all you have to do is pester your FO with notification every time you buy a small quantity to keep your ammo up to your limit.
By civil obedience they should be so snowed under with ammo notification they may just readily accept an increase in the quantity you are allowed to hold!!

What do you think, would it work???

my new one says the same ? so i rang the Essex office and said do you wish me to tell you each time i buy bullets they said nooooo please dont send in every trans, we aren't interested !! just keep to your limits as per cert. one more thing added to the cert by an ill informed body ,when the new cert was put in place to lesson the paperwork by the back office's ???? they add this silly statement within a document that chance to lower the cost of completing said forms!!

so that may explain why it takes so long to get a variation done, as there must be some reason
