Thread: 2 Rifles or 1?

    2 Rifles or 1?

I have a 243 Remi Semi Custom and got a 308 added to my license recently. Both rifles would be used for deer in the UK. My question is, do I sell the 243 and spend a bit more on a nice 308. Or do you have a broader collection sitting in the cabinet. My concern is that I get the 308 and the 243 just sits there gathering dust. do others with more than one deer rifle find themselves always utilising their favourite?

It's very handy to have set-up in reserve especially if the scopes can be easily moved about. Regards JCS

the good thing about the smaller calibre even though its dear legal is that you can set one up for foxes or lamping etc and the other for proper days out stalking especially if you lamp from a vehicle but its all in choice.

Ending up with a favourite go to rifle is sometimes the case but it never hurts (As JCS says) to have something else at the ready should you need it. Also it's good to keep a variety of rifles on your FAC.

Ive had a .243 and .308 for as long as I can remember. I also have a .270 Wsm which is a peach...

I agree - keep them both if you can afford to

Section 161 of the Highways Act 1980 (England & Wales) makes it an offence to discharge a firearm within 50 ft of the centre of a highway with vehicular rights without lawful authority or excuse, if as a result a user of the highway is injured, interrupted or endangered.

    As Apache says, keep both.

I have both in my cabinet and although I favour the .308 I wouldn't give up the 243

also if you use factory ammo the .243 is cheaper for non paying vermin work than .308 or like me the .270 rounds
