Hi I'm looking to buy a remington 700 vtr in 223
But iv heard good and bad things on the vtr, but I'm just like to now if any body has got 1 or ever used 1 .
I like the sound of the 1:9 twist so I can use the heaver bullets for longer range.
Or is there any better rifles with the same twist and the round the same price.
Cheers

Savage 25V and other models are 1:9.
1:9 is a good twist rate for 55 to some of the 75 grain bullets. The M-16 with 1:9 really shoots 55 and 62 grain well.

I have shot the 700 VTR in .308 and like it. The fellow who owns it has a .223 I have not fired. He said it does not shoot the lighter bullets well, but with 60-gr range, like the V-Max, TAP ammo, and some of the hunting ammo from Winchester, it shoots better than 1/2 inch.

Warning ! If you worship free floating barrels, this one is not. It has a pressure point under the flat barrel bottom to dampen vibration.

I have one in 204 good bit of kit, changed the stock to a bell & carson so its free floating and threaded it for a mod, one hole groups at 100 yds
