Thread: Blaser Magnum Ammo.

    Blaser Magnum Ammo.

How obtainable is this and how long (I wonder) will it be available ?
Made by a popular manufacturer (Norma, Lapua ?) for Blaser I believe.

    Thanks.

Norma make these for Blaser, the details are in the Norma catalogues. It seems a worthy attempt to come up with a new range of magnum cases without the belts. The original 375 H&H and 300 H&H needed a belt for headspacing, but these were the only large cases available to the American makers and wildcatters between 1945 and 1970 so we ended up with a generation of overbore belted magnums that didn't need the belt.

I think it will be difficult for Blaser to get any momentum going unless a large US manufacturer decides to get on board, either by chambering these calibres and/or by producing the ammunition alongside Norma.

Are there any reloading dies, cases and data available for the Blaser Magnums?

Supposedly a lower recoil than other 7mm's, or so Blaser claim.

If you look at the Blaser site they claim that this is down to an entirely new design of case, as opposed to modification of an existing one. If it is true I would consider getting a barrel in this calibre but would want to compare with other more established ones before buying.

interesting , call me an old cynic if you like but to me it seems you have two choices , normal shoulders or rounded like a wetherby , both of which have been done (not that I think it makes much difference) other than that the biggest factor in recoil is rifle weight and stock shape (but shape is to do with felt recoil) followed by using a brake/mod ? a 180g 30 cal bullet at 3100fps generates a certain amount of recoil and I don't see how a different shape case will change this an appreciable amount?
