Cens. I work on a range (butts end mostly) and have no bother wearing all day, far nicer than peltor type cans. Though they do get a bit costly to run when wearing up to 80hrs a week. Failing that, for occasional shooting, the passive filter types are cheap (around a tenner), reasonably comfortable, and effective.

The Napier Pro 10 looks intresting. Not bulky, not warm in suummer and a good price. I asked about on this forum but not many people seem to use them.

I have these and like them real well (have 2 hearing aids)....Hardly ever without them since the hearing aids..... Coulda, shoulda, woulda.... Had I worn hearing protection from the beginning, wouldn't be wearing earing aids now.....

Ask your consultant whether you ought to be protecting the outside of your ear as well.
I've heard anecdotally that you still get damage when wearing the in ear moulded types. Would be good to get a specialists view.

I use Peltor SporTac. Not cheap but then your hearing is valuable.
You still hear everything going on, batteries last ages and they switch themselves off after a reasonable while.

+1. I've also 'heard' that hearing can be damaged by frequent concussion/percussion(?) on the mastoid area - behind the ears. Wearing muff-type protection covers this area and apparently enhances protection. It would be interesting to get a consultant's view on whether there is some substance to this anecdote or if it's tosh.

I wear CENS when I'm shooting then reactive muffs when coaching I also put them on over the CENS if there lots of noise whilst waiting. A hat also makes a big difference.

I wear hearing aides as well

Didn't realize how deaf I was until I got the electronic muffs last fall..... I just got the hearing aids in January and it's like being born again..... The girls at the practice that take care of me suggest the muffs also... You gotta be careful if you sweat a lot I guess..... They gave me a little container with the moisture absorbing crystals to store the aids in over night to dry them out.
