Where can I buy Powder & Primers in Surrey?

I am getting into reloading & have nearly got all the kit together to start reloading. One thing I am not sure of is where can I buy the powder & primers from, as I gather these have to be face to face.? Is this something I can expect to get at a gunshot or do I need to go to a specialist. I will be reloading .308 with 155g Bergers & .243 with 90g Lapua HPBT Scenars to start with. Do they sell a selection at Bisley, as I go there fairly often? Somebody mentioned that there was an importer who was based there? Thanks

In no particular order:-

GT Shooting Coulsdon
Fultons of Bisley
Powells of Reigate might have some.
AE Clarke which I believe is Camberly

There are others of course.

Reloading solutions is in oxfordshire/north of oxford in Kidlington. Fultons of Bisley will hold some stock and will order anything else that is available. If you wait for one of the arms fairs at Bisley then you find alsorts on the trade stands. HPS have an outlet there which is open whenever it is busy enough for them (give them a bell) they stock a good selection of Vhit powders. GT shooting in Coulsdon might order for you.

give orvil from the site ( mbr sporting ) a try good guy he will have what you want and at a fair price and he is all ways at bisley.

2p worth
at the bisley range booking office, they carry TR140 etc powders and primers at competitive prices bullets try them or fultons
good man forgot Orvil :thumb:

A E Clarke went to the wall some time ago. Now virtually bugger all with a shop window between Bisley & Salisbury

It isn't in Surrey, but as you give West Sussex/Surrey as your location, why not try FA Anderson in East Grinstead? but as others have said, the necessaries are readily available at Bisley....

Bisley in the range office or fultons next door, depends what your after, reloading solutions should have a good variety not that anybody has a good selection at the moment, give yourself plenty of options rather than one make of bullet and powder, atb swaro

Cannot complain really as I have had great service from some of the "front room" RFDs on this site, but still always relish the opportunity to walk into a local RFDs shop, with the intention of just browsing. Also heard recently that another Surrey dealer, Cranleigh Field Sports, has ceased trading....A sign of the times no doubt

Thanks for all the good leads. I will have to look into some of these as I have just ordered a press. I will check some of those out and plan a trip to Bisley.

They are just up the road from me, I shall have a look next time I am passing

No 2520 the last time I asked, that is an awesome powder with 155gr scenars,45grs gives around 2900fps with 26 inch tube and very accurate at 2,830 oal in my 308

You need to go see Fred in the range office at Bisley. The NRA carries a surprising stock of reloading supplies and they are pretty competitive. Sometimes they even pull something out of the depths there that's nothing but a bargain.

Fultons are alright. I used to use AE Clarkes a lot and was sad to see their shop shut up when I drove past a couple weeks ago.

Do try to take a trip to Reloading Solutions. You will drool.

Or even Lovex D073.6 LOL (they renamed it several years ago). Got to agree with you mate, it works well in my .308w too and funnily enough the NRA used to be the cheapest place to buy it.
Neumo I'm surprised that you haven't noticed the powder and primers for sale in the NRA range office as you say you visit Bisley regularly. They hold a pretty good stock and at good prices. Already mentioned I know but TR140 is certainly available on camp as the importer lives there. Brilliant stuff and probably the cheapest powder that you can buy. Does everything that N140 can do and £20 or so a Kg less to boot.

If you head down there over the next couple of weeks as its the Imperial Meeting, John Carmichael at HPS will have his "shop" open at the old Bisley Gun Club (the black and white building between William Evans and the clays). He usually has a selection of powders (I've bought N140 from him in the past) and primers etc.

Alternatively get in touch with Nigel Cole-Hawkins (commonside@compuserve.com) for TR140 or Elcho 17 powders. I don't know if he does primers but I wouldn't be surprised.
