    Places to shop in Norfolk

I always take the family on holiday in Norfolk every year, I used to work and live in Norwich so I know the area quite well,

Looking for ideas on good outdoor related shops to go to while I am down there though as I have never explored them while on hols but I am planning on doing it this time (daddys day lol ).

We always make some of the weekly carboot sales on the Sunday before we come home Monday, granted it is an early start but it usually a fun day for my wife as she is of the creative type and you do land up picking up some very unusual bargains, and the car boots up here in the Highlands are so over priced and not very unusual that you might as well buy retail.

So I am looking for something for me this time, I usually always pop in to Dereham road in Norwich for a look , I picked up my Jack Pyke knife last year.

    thanks in advance

    David

Try Billy Woods at Swaffam or his brothers Chris and Guy at Ovington near Watton.

You will probably know Tony Buckland, he would be worth a visit, not sure if he is doing any firearms work now though, just diving kit.

Are you looking for outdoor shooting type shops or outdoor camping etc? A few options:

    http://www.churchillsofdereham.co.uk/
    http://www.norwichcamping.co.uk/
    http://www.gallyonsclothing.co.uk/
    http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/norwich

    For smaller gunsmiths:

    http://www.norfolk-sporting-guns.co.uk/
    http://www.gallyon-and-sons.co.uk/

Richardson and Son I believe have been nominated in the past as Shooting Times Best Gun shop - it's an experience just going in and seeing the Aladins Cave of an old-fashioned gunsmith.

For general shopping, you will be hard to beat Norwich which has been nominated as a top-10 destination for shopping within the UK. It has everything from big national and independent department stores (John Lewis, House of Fraser, Jarrolds) some anchoring shopping malls, together with a huge number of small independent boutique shops selling just about everything. Just take a day wandering about the city and see what you can find.

Never been in Richardsons that might be worth a wee visit I think, really looking for gun store type out door shop instead of your usual outdoor clothing I have enough of that up here , we have plenty mountaineering shops here but very few gun/hunting shops. I know Norwich quite well and the mrs and the boys love atleast on days shopping specially in Chapelfield centre, my wife being a jewellery maker and crafty type person loves going to the jeweelery shops down the Aleyways and she loves the outdoor market for some unusual tat. This is purely for me for a change just 10 minutes in a shop I feel comfortable in lol ... Not looking to buy any firearms ticket is full saddly and don't think I can warrant a variation right now lol maybe if a cheap shotgun arises you never know but I like shopping in Gregors up here for that sort of thing

Funnily enough, we don't have a huge selection of mountaineering shops in Norfolk! We used to live in Aberdeenshire so I would regularly drop into Craigdon Mountain Sports, I like to do a decent peak each year. Done Kilimanjaro, Mont Blanc, Jebel Toubkal, Andes this year - Everest Base Camp next April!
