    Sauer 202 6.5 x 55 loading ?

Just about to start load development with my mentor and wondered if anyone has a starting point for the Sauer ?

    I have 120gn Sierra Prohunter and 140gn (?) available.

    Thanks in advance.

Hi there. I'm using 45gn of V160 to push Hornady 140gn SPs out of my 202 at about 2680fps. I've not tried 120gn bullets.

I use these loads in my Sako 85 6.5x55 using Lapua brass and Federal Match Primers:

    120gr Sierra Pro Hunter
    44.6g R17
    COL 3.000
This load is very accurate and runs at around 2,850 ft/sec, Energy 2,164 ft/lbs (according to Quickload)

I have two powder options for the 140gr bullets

    140gr Sierra Gameking
    42.4g R17
    COL 2.950
Another accurate load sub 1/2" running at 2,680 ft/sec, Energy 2,229 ft/lbs (according to Quickload)

    140gr Sierra Gameking
    46.4g R22
    COL 3.035
    Sub 1/2" running at 2,670 ft/sec, Energy 2,213 ft/lbs (according to Quickload)

These loads appear safe in my rifle but you should start your powder weight lower and work up your own safe working loads and use the above as a guide to what you might be able to safely achieve. Changing brass and primers could alter the above loads so proceed with care. A chronograph is a handy tool if you are developing loads and use all the manuals you can get hold of which will give you a broad picture of where your loads might be.

I use N160 with the 140grn bullets (Nosler Partitions and Hornady SP) and N150 with the 120grn bullets (AMax). I could not get the AMax going properly with the N160 so was advised to swap to a slightly faster powder and now have a super accurate round. I don't load hot rounds as don't feel the need. I look for accuracy and consistency. I am still learning so do not feel confident to publish my load data on open forum. PM me if you want details but best to follow manufacturers data as a start point and work up carefully from there. Good luck and welcome to the addiction!

I'd try the 140gn bullets. I've found good loads for a number of 140gn bullets. I'll post details later. This is using a 202 also.

I reload for a guy's Sauer 202 in 6.5x55 using 120gr Noslers. Use 46.5gr of N160 with the bullet ogive seated 160 thou back from the lands. Fed Gold primers and Lapua brass.

In my own R93 in 6.5x55 I use 47.3gr of N160 with 120gr Sierra Prohunter seated with the ogive 180 thou back and that shoots incredibly well also.
