Medals for MPs who visit Afghanistan for a day or 2??????

As a member of the forces this strikes me as a little strange. Any member of UK forces or civil servant in an operational theatre has to serve a minimum of 30 (i think) days consecutively to qualify, exceptions being KIA or WIA/going home due to illness.

An MP visiting theatre apparently gets the medal for a 2 day visit....   ........If you also think this a little strange hopefully the link below will work. It would be interesting to see a freedom of info request to see who claims them.

I think the medal is for getting off their arses and doing something,, not for being in a war zone!

Even the soldiers in the rear with the gear have to do 28 days to get a gong. what a disgrace these people are, the realy undermine the medal.
