    Sauer 202 6.5 x 55 load development

    The journey begins, my first ever rifle and a whole new experience of load development with my good friend and mentor Ben (flyingfisherman).

    120gn Seirra Pro Hunter, New Lapua brass, Federal 210 match primers and H4895.
    The loading book called for 34gn to 37.8gn.
    Brass was prepped and trimmed for consistency then off to the loading table. The first few rounds were tentative in getting the weight of powder correct, it's a skill which should become quicker with time and practice.

    10 x 34gn More rounds here to get used to the rifle.
    3 x 34.5gn
    3 x 35gn
    3 x35.5gn

    All done and off to the range. All at 100yds on a 26c day.

    34gn = 0.277" group
    34.5gn = 0.64"
    35gn = 0.565"
    35.5gn = 0.66"

    Crono taken at 8'6" from the muzzle average 2480.

    All in all a fantastic few days, a brilliant start, 36gn to 37.5gn next. Maybe then I'll try 140gn Amax or I might stick while I'm ahead !

    PS
    If only I could figure out how to post a picture of my first group, perhaps later, clover leaves !

    1/4 of an inch for ten rounds-: I'd stick with that!!!
