Rhodesian Rideback - Suitability as a Deer Dog

I have a Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy, 14 months old. I've just started to take her on stalking outings with me with a view to training her to locate shot deer in cover. So far so good but very early days. I just wondered whether anyone had any experience with these as a deer dog. They are obviously a hound so in theory should be more than capable. Any help/guidance appreciated.

The only Ridgeback I know is best described as very capable of locating and tracking deer.

The co owner of my local gunsmiths uses a ridgeback for deer work.

If they are capable of lion hunting then I am sure would be good for UK deer species.

    Good luck with her training.

The only Ridgeback I meet can certainly pursue deer, but is uncontrollable. Regards JCS
