    Blaser....

Serious question, not manipulating leavings, but why have Blaser rifles seperated this forum into two camps?

I'm new to this forum so please excuse my naivety but havent there always been rifles some didn't like?
I've heard them called 'the dark side' but why? Good rifle by all accounts.

Genuinely interested. Is it an in joke?

    too true

I don't like them and that is not because i can't afford one,

i would take one if given to me and then sell it to someone who wants it.

    A hammer is a hammer.

I like a rifle for a rifles sake. Accuracy is easy t buy. Character? Not so much.

I just have a thing about them. I'm in the market for a 338LM at the moment, I know of a Blaser lrs for 1500, but I chose to go for a Sako TRG at 3550 instead, so it's defiantly not because I can't afford one, I just prefer the idea of bolt lugs holding back 70000psi instead of some fingery thingies. That, and the fact I have a bit of a thing for the TRG's too

Fair point. I've yet t see a 50 BMG straight pull. This may be why
I just like mauser actions. They look and feel right t me.

    To each their own.

I'm afraid the Blaser is the classic Marmite rifle.

For some reason they seem to attract brickbats far more than any other rifle out there. Some will say it's because of the perceived over-engineering, others the cost, and others will say it's because of the owners...

Conversely those who use them feel inclined to defend them by pointing out what they see as the advantages; accuracy, interchangeability, usability.....

Basically it's one of those instances where both sides just can't resist rising to the bait

One thing I have noticed is that there seems to have been a marked increase recently in people on the site who have switched over to using them.

They are very nice rifles , but they just don't float my boat . For that kind of money I could get a REALLY nice single shot or a classic old Oberndorf Mauser , to each their own .

It was a similar affair when hunters switched from double rifles to magazine rifles. Everyone had an opinion and could tell you why they were right.
Maybe straightpulls will take over and in 100 years mausers will be worth 3k for a crap one!
