    L200 tow bar electrics

I have a tow bar fitted to my L200 but no electrics, I have the relevant socket and associated wiring which came with the truck. I asked my local garage to fit the electrics at the last service but they tell me it has to be done Mitsubishi? Not being mechanically minded this does seem a bit extreme for what I thought would be a relatively simple job. Is this the case?

Depends on how old the truck is!
Some older motors are a dawdle to fit however the newer ones - due to their electronics - need fitting either by a towbar specialist or the motors manufacturer's approved garage.
The Citroen ZX that I had took me an hour to fit - the C5 took the garage a whole day (both tow bars and twin electrics).
Luckily I had managed to negotiate I'd buy the kit if they fitted it when I bought the car.

Hope you manage to get it sorted.

its so easy feller as a diy job just come off the motors tail lights clusters ,use inline connectors and run the L or r indicator as a fly lead behind the back panel. job will take 20 min get a bulb tester or power probe to tell what wire is what ,use the wife to turn and press the pedals etc .

Google it.. or even youtube... Pretty simple if you pay attention to detail and have a cheap multimeter or test light... And are not color blind..... The newer hitch sets you get off ebay here have plugs already installed so you just unplug your taillights and plug the trailer harness in to your light and your vehicle plug into the trailer harness plug... Do you folks have to have the little light on your dash that flashes with the trailer signals (if you have a trailer signal out, the light won't flash)??

Google Mitsubishi l200 single electrics. Should imagine its a can bus system so will require a little relay box to power the electrics, very simple DIY job the instructions come with the kits!

no as i hate flashing lights in the cab mty unless its in a " DISCO" sorry for the pun. i also don't use the warning sound box as its just more to get in the way and wake up her indoors or the farmer at silly o'clock ,kiss works very well for me .

I fully agree as i have done work on non UK motors for use oversea's as an ex Mot tester and vbra body shop owner they need all the bells and warning lights to be working . but a driver should do a lights walk around before setting off be it here in the UK or over the water , and should a bulb go out while in use most drivers will soon let you know , or the old bill will lol.

I assume you have the Mitsubishi fitting kit,
then you can fit it yourself but there is a hole that needs drilled into the cab from the rear left of what I remember, everything else is or should have the correct gender plug as these fit all the way to the front for the fuse and relays under where the driver sits, and one to the battery, this was on a 56 plate l200, I did not fit mine as I only used the tow bar for a bike rack or post for hanging deer on using it for a gambrel on

He's a fellow shooter and good guy to deal with. Most of his work is on the larger stuff but he does some smaller stuff.
It's the calibre of the shooter that counts not the calibre of the rifle.
