    same dog new tricks

    Hi all
I was toying with the idea of a buying a deer tracking dog as my lab bitch is retired into old age and my 3 year old springer dog has only ever worked feathered game.
then i though i would try and set a track with watered down blood on deer skin to see what his reaction would be, the track was set through a heather bog for about 30 yards by myself ,left for 15 minutes to rest then took the dog in to see what would happen started it of as a strike site on a shot deer, he circled the site and took the blood trail like a hound streight to the deer skin i was pleased but not sure if it was luck or the dog so i sent my son to set a blind trail that i didnt know let it rest 30 mins, i took the springer in on the lead to the strike site and tasked him on the trail ,he circled took the trail and again streight to the deer skin on about a 45/50 yard track with only about a cup of watered blood used to set it im a pleased man no need to look at a deer dog ive had one all along, now just practice and more training.anyone else use a springer as a deer dog.

    Yours Nigdonn
