Thread: 1 for 1 swap any suggestions?

1 for 1 swap any suggestions?

    I am thinking of doing a 1 for 1 variation from a .22 to a .204 but it seems the FEO may suggest 22-250 or a 223.

What are your thoughts on the above calibres to use for foxing mainly and what amount of ammo would you recomend for the .204?

    Thanks
    Steve

Had a 22/250 for 13 years the same rifle and I can't think of anything negative to say about it ,it was a trendy fox round then and it killed foxs if I did my bit .i had it pimped by jäger and hopefully last me another 13

The feo can suggest whatever he likes. Ignore him and apply for whatever you want.

Exactly that. If you want .204 go .204.

Surely you want to keep the .22? Everyone should have a desmond in the cabinet. Go 22-250 if you have chance of muntjac, or 8 twist .223 if you fancy plinking targets. Ive just started using a 22-250 again after a few years away, loving it!

just 'add' the .204, completely different purpose to .22, so no reason feo should have anything to say about it.

Love the Desmond comment I do have 2 x Desmonds in the cabinet one is not being used so looking for something else.

As above I have 2 x Desmonds in the cabinet and have seen a lot of good things about the .204, but it was suggested the FEO may suggest the 22-250 or the 223, was just tring to see whats the opinions out there on these rounds.

The 204,223 and 22-250 are all in the same 'class' and they'll all get the job done. The latter two also being good for muntjac and CWD if that happens in the future.
The 22-250 is the most powerful(ish), the .204 is fastest(ish) and the .223 is cheapest(much)

I'd probably go for the .204 or a fast .17, simply because I like different things.

I don't shoot much of anything beyond 250 yards, so for me the .204 or .22-250 would be overkill. (But if I was going in that direction, I'd go whole-hog and plump for a 220 swift.)

More likely, though, I'd go .222 or .223.
