Do they shed antlers every year, and if so what time of year do they shed, also when are they out of velvet
I know this is a general question not to hung up on exact dates

Thanks in Advance

They shed around May and re-grow straight away once they get into the seasonal trend. They will be in velvet for a good while but it depends how big a set they grow! All that I have shot just recently have been clean.
The seasonal trend bit may be confusing though?
Muntjac can be born at any time of year and are therefore un-seasonalbe in that respect. However, their coat change and antler cycle is seasonable, but only after the first set which is dependant upon when the animal was born. It may have a first set for more than a year or less than a year. For example, if a buck started to grow a first set in March, it would keep them until the following May. If it started to grow a set in July, it would cast them next May. I hope this helps.
